September 2016

The Bag up Manitoba – Plastic Bag Challenge officially launched on Wednesday at Sargent Park School. During the month of October we are asking schools to collect as many plastic bags for recycling as they can. The program is open to any elementary school in the province. Teachers and principles, sign up your schools today!

Since 2008, Manitoba schools have collected well over six million plastic bags! We encourage everyone to reduce their contribution to the landfill. As schools register for the challenge, they may decide to accept plastic bags from the public. Please contact the principal and take your bags to a local school.

Plastic items accepted:

  • Grocery bags
  • Retail bags
  • Newspaper sleeves
  • Produce bags
  • Bread bags
  • Ice bags
  • Bubble wrap
  • Case over wrap
  • Pellet bags
  • Salt bags
  • Dry cleaning bags
  • Resealable food bags
  • Cereal bags

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Carrie at Take Pride Winnipeg by email carrie@takepride.mb.ca or by phone (204) 956-7590 ext. 203
