Happy 7-11 Day!
It’s a great day to be a Manitoban. Our province has been named the Slurpee capital of the world for the 19th year in a row! There’s an official sign on the corner of Rouge Rd and Byrd Ave in Winnipeg to prove it.
After you’re finished your Slurpee (hopefully you didn’t get a brain freeze!) Don’t forget to give your cups a quick rinse before you pop them in the bin.
Recyclable items
- Lids
- Clear plastic cups
Unaccepted items (Please don’t put these items in your blue bin.)
- Straws
- Colourful paper cups with plastic lining
The colourful paper Slurpee cups aren’t accepted in the recycling bin because they contain a thin layer of plastic called polyethylene. This type of plastic requires special processing because it can’t be easily separated from the cups.
The rules of recycling are always changing. Check our website to see if these cups will be accepted for recycling in the future.
And remember to recycle, whatever you are doing this summer!
