It is Waste Reduction Week here in Canada!
Waste Reduction Week is a national campaign that builds awareness for the need to reduce consumption, choose more environmentally responsible products/services, and divert more waste from landfills to conserve natural resources. The programs objectives are to provide information and ideas to reduce waste in all facets of daily living, creating solutions to the many environmental challenges we face including climate change, water pollution and preservation of natural resources.
MMSM is doing our part by partnering with Brandon’s Environment Committee, launching the Waste Reduction School Challenge. The Waste Reduction School Challenge will encourage students to collect recycling for two weeks and take part in waste reduction activities; clean up school grounds, take reusable lunch kits and create recycled art. Winning classrooms of the challenge will receive reusable lunch kits, bragging rights and a photo with the Mayor!
